A court in Singapore on Monday sentenced a 40-year-old man to jail for killing his Vietnamese girlfriend, local media reported.
Lim Hou Peng Jackson was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to a jail term of four years and six months.
He was also guilty on an additional drug consumption charge and was sentenced to five years imprisonment and three strokes of the cane.
Lim’s girlfriend, Tran Cam Ny, 32, was found dead on 20 November 2014 at a flat in Ang Mo Kio.
Local media reports said Tran had been working in Singapore as a hostess since 2004 and had been going out with Lim for almost five years.
Lim and his girlfriend had consumed drugs on the night she died, and were involved in an argument that eventually led to her death when Lim covered her face with a blanket.
