A high-ranking police officer in southern Vietnam was hospitalized with severe burns after he cast his rod over an overhanging power line where he was fishing.
Vo Minh Phuong, deputy police chief of Ca Mau Province, received first aid at a local hospital right after the incident on Sunday afternoon.
The 56-year-old man was then sent to Ho Chi Minh City’s Cho Ray Hospital for further treatments.
Doctors said his fishing rod caught a medium-voltage power line.
He is now in critical condition as the burns cover 60 percent of his body.
