A one-day seminar discussing ways to increase cultural exchanges between Vietnam and China was held in Hanoi on Saturday.
Organizers said the seminar was a celebration of the friendship between the two countries as well as commemoration of Hanoi's 1000th anniversary that falls this year.
Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, vice chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Committee, said that the seminar offered the opportunity for both countries to understand each other's culture better, and to take pride in their cultural traditions.
The greater understanding will promote further cooperation between the two nations, Hang said.
She said the traditional cultures of China and Vietnam have many similarities that can be seen in many costumes that are worn and folk songs that are sung in both countries.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese Embassy.
