Customs officials said Daka had gone through six other countries with the cocaine before entering Vietnam.
They said they have detected four cases of drug smuggling at Tan Son Nhat Airport this year, seizing 11.8 kg of cocaine and 2 kg of precursor chemicals used to produce heroine. The seized narcotics were worth VND78 billion ($3.7 million) in total.
Vietnam enforces stiff penalties including life imprisonment and death for drug trafficking.
