Police in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa said a Russian tourist had died March 19 off the coast of the resort town of Nha Trang because of a heart attack, a local news website has reported.
According to police, autopsy results showed that Viktor Subbotin, 54, died from a heart attack, Dan Tri reported Tuesday.
That day Subbotin was swimming with his wife Tatiana when he stopped moving and appeared to be drowning, the online newspaper quoted police as saying.
His wife then cried for help and two locals rushed to rescue him.
Doctors from Khanh Hoa General Hospital were called to the beach where efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful.
The General Consulate of Russia in Ho Chi Minh City has authorized a company in Vietnam to complete procedures for cremating the victim before sending his remains back to Russia, Dan Tri reported.
