Vietnamese police have arrested a Russian armed robber wanted by Interpol after disguising themselves as travel firm employees and taxi drivers.
A police statement from the central province of Khanh Hoa Wednesday said they have arrested Volko Denis, 35, under an Interpol warrant for breaking into a resident’s house in Russia with a gun and robbing nearly 390 million rubles (US$7,200), local media reported.
They have transferred him to Russian authorities.
Khanh Hoa Police received the notice from the Ministry of Public Security early this month, that Denis was hiding in Vietnam.
Some inspectors disguised themselves as travel firms’ employees looking for partners and customers to trace down the suspect.
A team of officers seized him at a hotel in Nha Trang last Friday, pretending as cleaners and drivers to get close to the room.
The hotel owner said Denis had been staying there for two months, but he rarely went out, except to a department store.
