A head-on collision between a car and a container truck in the central resort town Nha Trang on Thursday killed one Taiwanese passenger in the car and injured another.
Chen Hui Ling, 49, died after the car allegedly veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the truck at around 8 a.m., according to investigators.
The car was thrown backward and its head badly damaged.
Its Vietnamese driver and another Taiwanese passenger were rushed to hospital with severe injuries.
A local said the car flipped several times.
“People in the car were motionless. We had to break the door to pull them out,” the eyewitness said, as cited by news website VnExpress.
The truck driver, a 43-year-old man who is learning to drive trucks, and his teacher suffered slight injuries.
One of the truck's tires fell off and its windshield was broken.
