The remains of 16 more martyrs from the Vietnam War were unearthed in Khanh Hoa Province Thursday, bringing the total remains found at a local road construction site to 22, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
According to the report, the latest discovery was made as provincial agencies extended their excavation efforts at the construction site along a mountainous road in Vinh Hai Ward, in the resort town of Nha Trang.
Last Friday, six soldiers were found at the site, it said, adding that local forces have also found belongings of the deceased such as water containers and sandals.
The soldiers have been identified as having died during a military campaign in 1968, the news agency reported.
It said local authorities will conduct four more days of excavations and then organize a ceremony to give the soldiers a proper burial immediately afterward.
