A railway guard in the north central province of Nghe An was hit and killed by a train Wednesday, local news website Dan Tri reported.
Le Van Quyet, 34, an employee of Cau Giat Railway Station, was walking along the railway line when he was hit by a train coming from behind, initial investigations indicate.
Residents living along the railway line said Quyet had tried to avoid the train but was unable to do so.
Residents managed to stop the vehicle and were about to rush the man to hospital, but his injuries were too severe. He died soon after.
It is not clear why Quyet was on the railroad at that time and how he did not know that the train was behind him.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the resident.
