Nearly 3,000 helmets were donated to primary school children in Quang Nam Province Tuesday under the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation’s Helmet for Kids program.
They were part of the 9,100 helmets donated by Johnson & Johnson to be handed out to primary students and teachers from 44 schools in Quang Nam, Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Dong Nai throughout 2015.
The program has "improved road safety knowledge and behavior among school students, resulting in lives saved from the use of helmets,” said Mirjam Sidik, CEO of AIP Foundation.
Khuat Viet Hung, Executive Vice Chairman from the National Traffic Safety Committee, called on parents to "put a helmet on your child and avoid later regret!”
The selected schools under the program are located in four of 15 major provinces implementing the National Child Helmet Action Plan.
The Action Plan is coordinated by AIP Foundation, National Traffic Safety Committee, which aims to reach 80 percent of child helmet-wearing rate by 2016.
