Two officials from the People's Supreme Court have been suspended for three month for allegedly receiving US$1,000 in bribes, local VnExpress reported Friday.
Nguyen Thi Mai Hong and Hoang Xuan Thuy were found receiving money from two people suspected of smuggling electronics from overseas into Vietnam a couple of days ago, the news website quoted an unnamed official as saying.
Both work at the Department of Prosecuting and Supervising Economic Cases under Vietnam's highest prosecutorial authority.
The pair are currently under investigation, according to the news source.
Last week the agency also ordered the Hanoi authorities to investigate allegations that a prosecutor solicited bribes from the family of Doan Vu Thanh Nghia, who stood trial on September 27 for embezzeling more than VND42 billion (US$2.1 million).
The allegations from Nghia's husband prompted the trial to be halted.
