A police officer in the northern province of Hai Duong will be dismissed after posting on the Internet a video game showing his leader and three other colleagues playing cards during work time, a spokesman of Hai Duong Police said Thursday.
Colonel Hoang Quy Thuy, spokesman of Hai Duong Police, told VnExpress news website that the police officer will be sacked for “many reasons, including his video.” He had earlier sent a request for resign weeks before the incident occurred, said Thuy.
Thuy added that the police officer, who was the only outsider that was present in the office room at the time the four others were playing cards, denied to have posted the video on the Internet.
The group of four police officers filmed as playing cards, including Pham Thanh Giang, the chief of a district-level police department, have been suspended from work and will face strict measurements for their violations, said Thuy.
The one-minute video emerged on the Internet on February 16, showing Giang and three other police officers playing cards inside their office. Wads of cash are seen on the playing mat, and several swear words are clearly heard during the short video.
