Da Nang police are investigating into an elevator falling from 6th floor that injured 10 people at a five-star hotel on July 17.
The case happened at around 9 p.m. at the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hotel when about 400 people were leaving a conference on the 22nd floor.
Nguyen Thi Bich Nga, 22, who suffered the most serious injuries with a broken thigh bone and knees’ fractures, said the elevator moved for a while before falling.
“We are leaving a conference on career orientation. There are four elevators but we had to wait as it was too crowded,” she said.
Nga said the elevator was not overloaded when she and others going down.
“Suddenly, I heard a strange sound and the elevator fell. It was horrible and people were yelling before the elevator hit the ground in a second,” she said.
All ten injured people were taken to Da Nang Hospital.
Doctors said Truong Hoang Minh, 26, as another patient suffering serious injuries, with fractures in his vertebrae.
Eight others who suffered minor injuries were discharged later.
The hotel’s representatives visited the patients and pledged to pay for relevant treatment costs.
