Police in Ho Chi Minh City are trying to track down two men who stole a car's side mirror on a downtown street, after a video recorded by another car was posted online.

The video, taken Thursday, shows two men driving a motorbike past a Toyota that was stopped at a red light on Nguyen Trai Street. The one sitting pillion quickly took the mirror; the driver did not stop or even slow down.

Commander Nguyen Nhat Thanh from the traffic police of District 1 told news website VnExpress on Saturday that one of the thieves has been identified as Hang Phuong Dai, 26, to whom the motorbike used in the crime was registered.

But Dai, who lives in District 7, escaped on Friday night, Thanh said, adding that the police have asked his family to persuade the man to turn himself in.

Police have also called for owner and driver of the car to help with their investigation.
