The Da Nang police have arrested two men for assaulting a militia man and a police officer who tried to stop them from fighting at a karaoke parlor.
Mai Van Thanh, 21, and Le Quoc Khanh, 26, reportedly turned up drunk at the establishment almost at midnight Monday, and were refused entry.
The angry duo broke some furniture and slapped the woman owner.
When a militia man and a police lieutenant arrived and tried to stop them, Khanh grabbed the former's stick and hit him. The 46-year-old had to be rushed to hospital after being knocked down.
Thanh assaulted the cop but was apprehended.
Khanh, who was once convicted for using drugs, refused to come to the police station when summoned the next day.
When a police officer came to arrest him, he again shoved him around, and more officers had to be dispatched to restrain and take him to the police station.
Thanh has just graduated from Da Nang Medical School.
The two face charges of "preventing government officials from performing their duty."
