Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested two bag snatchers after a fierce chase along many streets on Sunday.
A group of officers in District 1 was patrolling Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street when they spotted Tran Anh Kiet, 36, and Le Hoang Phuc, 38, who were driving around in a suspicious manner.
The officers followed the duo through many streets in District 3 and Phu Nhuan District.
At around 11 a.m. when the duo arrived at Nguyen Van Dau Street in Binh Thanh District, they spotted a woman carrying a handbag while riding pillion on a motorbike.
The duo approached the bike and snatched the bag.
They dangerously zig-zagged down the road in an attempt to escape the pursuing officers.
The chase continued through many streets.
When the duo arrived at the intersection of Ba Huyen Thanh Quan and Vo Van Tan in District 3, or five kilometers from their crime scene, a pursuing cop kicked their bike, causing them to crash.
After arresting the pair, police returned the bag containing papers and money to the victim.
