Police in the central resort town of Nha Trang have arrested two Russian men suspected of using hundreds of fake bank cards to withdraw money from several ATM machines.
Troian Aleksei, 32, and Kotets Viacheslav, 29, were caught red-handed at two separate ATM booths in the city on Tuesday night, police said.
Aleksei was seized with 14 fake cards and VND23.9 million ($1,070) of cash, which he had just withdrawn from a machine on Ngo Gia Tu Street.
After searching his hotel room, police found 216 other cards, all of which were fake, together with VND61 million ($2,700) and $1,200.
Viacheslav, who had done the same trick to withdraw money from several cash machines on Monday and Tuesday, was arrested with 25 fake cards, around 15,900 euros and VND24.7 million ($1,100).
Two local banks, including BIDV and Techcombank, are among the two men’s victims.
Police did not say if there is any connection between the two men.
Further investigations are ongoing.
Earlier in February, local police had taken two other Russian men into custody after a bank accused them of using fake bank cards to pay for luxury hotel rooms.
