Police in the southern province of Binh Phuoc Saturday arrested a pharmacist for allegedly trying to kill her neighbors by poisoning their well.
Pham Thi Ngoc Chien, 35, who ran a drugstore in Tan Phu Ward, will face murder charges since under Vietnamese law one can be convicted for homicide even if the victim survives as long as they indeed tried to kill the victim and did not expect the person to survive.
Chien allegedly poured a bottle each of pesticide and bleach into the next-door well on August 19 night, police said.
Soon afterwards the couple living in that house, Giang Quy Don and Le Thi Nga, smelt pesticide in their house, developed a rash on their bodies and vomited profusely.
They were taken to a nearby hospital and are fine now.
Chien admitted to the police that she had wanted to poison the couple since she had conflicts with them.
