Passengers aboard a Vietnam Airlines flight got the scare of their lives when the aircraft landed at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport Tuesday evening with a thud and came to an instant halt.
They were then kept in the Airbus A320 airplane for 40 minutes without being offered any explanation by the cabin crew.
Le Duc Thang, a passenger on flight VN1145 from Hanoi, told news web site Vietnam Economic Forum that when the aircraft stopped the passengers were in great panic.
Five minutes later fire trucks and rescue vehicles arrived, but the crew told people to remain seated without explaining what had happened, he said.
Le Truong Giang, a Vietnam Airlines spokesman, told the website that when the aircraft landed, the captain suspected it may have touched some object lying on the runway and decided to stop immediately to prevent the tires from exploding.
Technical experts failed to find anything unusual, and a truck was sent to tow the plane to the terminal.
Giang added the aircraft was okay and would operate on its normal schedule.
