Ho Chi Minh City government in January will ban passenger buses that come from other provinces from entering the city center.
There are major bus stations at the city outskirts, but many buses, especially those run by small businesses, have tried to win more credits by picking up and leaving their customers at homes, some in the city center.
The ban is among the measures the city government has asked its Transport Department to take in 2012 to reestablish traffic order in the area.
HCMC Transport Department will limit the travel time for all trucks in the city, replacing the current all-time travel permit for several small kinds of trucks.
The department was also asked to rearrange public bus routes. Public buses take a lot of space on city downtown roads and are one factor worsening the traffic.
