Police in Can Tho have arrested a senior Party official for allegedly swindling others by purportedly promising to find them good jobs.
Doan Sac Son was caught red-handed receiving money from a victim, Dan Tri newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying.
Son is deputy head of the Propaganda and Education Committee under a Party unit that oversees enterprises in the Mekong Delta city.
He is also chairman of the unit’s veteran association.
Son has been suspended for three months for investigation, according to the source.
Tuoi Tre newspaper reported that Son was aware of recruitments from a city hospital. He then contacted potential applicants, claiming that he could have them hired for the jobs and demanding some money in return, the paper reported.
Police are expanding investigation into the case.
