A portion of a street that runs along Nhieu Loc Canal in Ho Chi Minh City sunk early Thursday.
People who live along Truong Sa St. in Phu Nhuan Dist. said cracks appeared in the street at around 3 a.m. before it started to sink.
The portion of the road was barricaded, and traffic diverted.
Civic workers are investigating the cause of the sinkage and working on remedial repairs.
Tuoi Tre news quoted Dao Thi Hoai Huong, a local shop owner, as saying that the same portion of the street had undergone repairs after it sunk mildly four or five months ago.
