Lam Dong police are investigating the case of two illegal loggers brutally attacking two park rangers in the Central Highlands province on June 10.
The incident happened in the afternoon when local forest protection agents were informed of logging activities inside Nam Ban, a protected forest.
Two park rangers, Hoang Trong Thao and Phan Dinh Hoa, were sent to the site. There they were insulted and attacked by two illegal loggers, Tien and Ngoc.
Tien reportedly pour gasoline on Hoa in an attempt to set him on fire. Hoa ran away but was caught and beaten, until other park rangers arrived and stopped the attack. The illegal loggers escaped.
