Customs officials at Tan Son Nhat Airport Wednesday said they have seized more than seven kilograms of heroin from two passengers.
In the latest case, a Malaysian woman, only identified by her initials P.A.G. was caught on August 4 with 1.76 kilograms of heroin after she landed in Ho Chi Minh City on a flight from Doha, Qatar.
The airport's security forces said G. had deliberately forgotten her luggage at the section of lost luggage and only came to take it two hours after the landing.
She was observed by the customs officials who found her moves suspicious and checked the luggage. The drug was found in two plastic bags covered in foil and carbon paper.
Earlier, on July 20, a 40-year-old Vietnamese woman, identified only as N.T.L. was arrested with 5.34 kilograms of heroin brought in on a flight from Singapore.
The smugglers and drugs have been handed over to the city police for further investigations.
