Over $529 mln to build storm shelters for fishing boats

Vietnam will spend over VND11 trillion (US$529.76 million) establishing typhoon shelters for fishing boats by 2020, Tuoi Tre has reported.

Under the plan announced by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung Friday, 131 shelters with the capacity of hosting over 84,000 boats will be built in the Bac Bo Gulf, along the central coast, and in waters off the coast of southern Vietnam.

As of last year, Vietnam has 123 storm shelfters across the country.
