Police on Sunday seized smuggled goods worth more than US$476,000 on a Hanoi street.
The goods were seized from six cars and included clothes, confectionary products and home appliances, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Hanoi police and inspectors from Vietnam Customs followed the cars from Lao Cai Province neighboring China and stopped them in Hanoi.
Officers are investigating.
The amount of goods smuggled into Vietnam rises toward the end of the year in anticipation of the country's biggest festival, Tet.
