One person died and another 11 people were missing after a Vietnamese cargo ship sunk off the country's southern coast Tuesday (December 28).
The accident happened when the Van Don No.03 ship belonging to the Quang Ninh Sea Transport, Import & Export Joint Stock Company was on its way from Malaysia to Ho Chi Minh City.
The 6,900-ton ship was some 110 sea miles to the southwest of Con Dao Island and carrying 23 crew members when the accident happened. Eleven of crew were rescued by fishing boats of the southern province of Kien Giang.
Rescue efforts are still underway as of Wednesday (December 29), and there was no information available about how the accident happened.
