An 85-year-old woman died Monday after collapsing in the blazing sun on the sand dunes of Quang Binh Province, Nguoi Lao Dong (Laborers) newspaper reported.
H.T.N. of Duc Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, visited her daughter's house on Monday morning, which was Vietnamese Reunification Day (April 30).
At noon, she began walking her son's house, not far away in the central province.
The temperature was 39 degrees Celsius and she collapsed while walking over a sand dune on the way.
In the evening, her son telephoned her daughter to ask about his mother and was told that she headed for his house at noon.
The son and daughter then found her body on the sand dune.
They said some parts of her skin had been burned black by the sun.
