An apartment building in Hanoi built in 1945 caught fire Monday night causing extensive damage, but there were no casualties, local media reported.
The three-story building on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, surrounded by high buildings, was made mostly of wood, had a lot of wooden furniture and a narrow entrance that made the job of firefighters difficult.
It took them around two hours to put out the fire.
Many children and old people among around 50 people who live there panicked and fainted.
No casualites was reported but the fire burned down the furniture of many families and damaged the building as a whole.
The police are investigating the cause of the fire that started on the second floor of the building.
