Police in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai Monday released two transport officials who were allegedly involved in a bribery case busted last week.
According to investigators, there was no proof of Pham Minh Khuong, deputy chief of traffic police in Vinh Cuu District, and Au Tuyet Hanh, inspector from Dong Nai Department of Transport, of being involved in the case.
Cuu and Hanh were arrested together with seven other officials from the department when they were found brokering and receiving bribes from people appearing for a driving license test last Thursday.
Police also confiscated nearly VND36 million (US$1,846), six mobile phones and many materials related to the bribery in an examination room.
Police said they are consolidating the investigation to press charges against the other arrested officials.
