The breath of an off-duty police officer who fatally struck a motorbike owner with his car smelled of alcohol, police in southern Vietnam said Monday.
The crash happened early Sunday in the Mekong Delta town of My Tho, the local police said.
Nguyen Son Thanh, an officer of the Tien Giang mobile police unit, was driving a car with three passengers on a street in My Tho when the car hit two motorbikes parked along the sidewalk.
The owner of a motorbike, identified as Bui Minh Phung, 32, was struck and declared dead at the scene.
