Nguyen Van Duc, 85, continues to feed his mother Tran Thi Nguy, 113, at their home in An Thanh Commune, Thanh Phu District in the Mekong Delta's Ben Tre Province. Duc has performed his filial duties since his mother stopped being able to take care of herself.
Duc wades through his one-hectare paddy field after bicycling a kilometer after his mother finished lunch.
The octogenarian chops dry wood gathered by his wife Pham Thi Tru, 75, (L) which the family uses to cook.
The couple escorts their mother to a hammock in front of their house for a nap after lunch. They make sure she eats lunch at 11a.m. every day.
Duc carries his mother down the street after she asked to visit neighbors on a day when she felt to be in particularly good health.
Duc wipes his mother's face before bed as his wife holds a candle. The family does not use electricity.
The old man laughs while spending an afternoon with his mother and grandchildren.
