Police in the northern province of Nghe An said they have recommended charges against people who ransacked the office of a foreign pig breeding firm.
Investigators found that the local mob had lodged numerous complaints with the firm about its pollution of their neighborhood.
According to police, the firm failed to make any attempt to properly treat their waste, sparking the riot.
Nguyen Huu Cau, deputy director of the Nghe An Police Department, said they are searching for the riot's ringleaders, who allegedly inspired hundreds of local residents to destroy machines and offices belonging to the Thai Duong Company last Wednesday, VOVNews reported.
The company claims that the crowd looted their offices following the riot.
