Six people in a lion dance troupe in Hai Phong were injured during a shooting Thursday. Police suspect the incident arose following a conflict between two dance troupes.
The men, between 17 and 58 years of age, were drinking on the street at around 3 a.m. when a group of men riding three to four motorbikes opened fire.
Several of the dancers were struck in their chest and backs.
Their 20-member troupe had earned some money performing on the city streets the previous night so they were celebrating, investigators said.
The shooting happened next to a local police station. So far, police say, they have one shooter in custody. His name has not been released.
In Vietnam, lion dance troupes perform primarily on the streets during the Lunar New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival, which fell Wednesday.
