Nearly 20 people were alleged to be carrying guns to attempt crimes in Hanoi, but they were stopped by local police, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.

According to the source, Hanoi's police busted the gang Wednesday night in front of the National Hospital of Geriatrics in Dong Da District, following locals' tipoff.

But most of the members managed to run away then, and police arrested just four of them who failed to present identification documents, VNA said, adding that those arrested are between 20 and 22 years old.

Police also confiscated five guns with 12 bullets in a bag on a lawn in front of the hospital.

The case is being investigated further.
