Police in the central province of Thanh Hoa took a local man into custody on Friday for allegedly killing his employer earlier in the day.
Investigators said that early Friday morning Luong Ngoc Trung, 35, came back to Thanh Hoi Hotel and Restaurant in Sam Son Town, where he works, after having a drink outside.
Trung then allegedly had a conflict with another employee who opened the door for him, and chased after the worker with a knife.
Truong Thi Thanh, 35, owner of the hotel and her 15-year-old daughter, Phan Thi Phuong, tried to stop Trung, but the man allegedly stabbed Thanh to death, and cut off Phuong's fingers, police said.
Trung then attempted suicide by cutting his neck, but was later saved at local hospital.
Police are investigating the case.
