Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested a gang of young robbers who have been attacking motorbike drivers with an electric stun gun, causing them to fall.
Five of the culprits, aged between 19 and 23 years old, were arrested on Monday while trying to sell a motorbike that they stole in early December, this only time by kicking the driver off his bike and onto the road.
The gang said they had committed nine successful robberies starting last September in Districts 12 and Hoc Mon in the city outskirts striking at night or early in the morning. They zapped drivers with the electric gun until they fell on to the road.
Police have seized five stolen motorbikes, an electric gun, and some illegally modified keys used to steal parked vehicles.
Police are searching for two other members of the gang, including the one who was in charge of selling the illegal motorbikes.
