A 21-year-old woman and her two-year-old child were killed Sunday when the wall of their house collapsed on them in the northern province of Lai Chau.
Sung Ngoc Pao, police chief of Giao San Commune, said initial investigations show that construction of the house was completed on Friday, meaning that the wall, made of clay, was yet to stabilize.
A torrential downpour over the past two days had weakened it, Pao said.
The accident happened during the village's market day, so locals were not at home to help them. Only when Dao's husband returned home did he find his wife and son buried by rubble.
