An 18-year-old boy died in south central Vietnam Thursday after consuming rat poison. The reason for his suicide is not known yet though his family said he had appeared depressed.
Truong Van Su of Phu Yen Province was found on a street Wednesday afternoon, and was rushed to hospital where he died soon afterwards, according to radio station Voice of Vietnam.
Su's parents had divorced and remarried, and he was living with his father.
His family said he had looked sad, talked less, and stopped focusing on his studies.
The police are investigating.
In the Mekong Delta, two boys, one 13 and the other 17, hanged themselves on Wednesday and Thursday.
Police said the younger killed himself after his mother constantly nagged him about his online games addiction.
Earlier, in Dak Nong Province in the Central Highlands, three 14-year-olds, all close friends and classmates, committed suicide in school on March 17 leaving behind notes one of which said the writer was "sad."
Their deaths caused great shock since they had always seemed to be happy.
Psychologists said the incident should be a wake-up call for adults who should find ways to ensure children comfortably share their problems and feelings.
