Rescue divers in the northern city of Hai Phong Thursday retrieved the bodies of five ship crew members who had been missing since their vessel sank on September 5.

The bodies were found stuck in the wreck some 13 kilometers from Hai Phong's Long Chau Island.

Local authorities said they were among nine crew members of the Hoang Thinh 8, which sank amid strong winds and waves.

Three others were rescued, while one remaining crew member is still missing.

The 2,000-ton-plus ship was on its way from Nam Dinh to Quang Ninh, both northern provinces, when the accident happened.
