A 15-year-old boy is still in critical condition after he and five others were injured when a mine exploded in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, local doctors said Wednesday.
Dr. Phan Thanh Khue from Lam Dong General Hospital said Sonur Ya Thien lost his two hands and an eye in the incident on Tuesday, adding that the boy's other eye, leg and stomach were damaged as well.
Another victim, 15-year-old Nguyen Huu Thanh, is also being treated at the hospital with critical injuries, said Dr. Le Quang Dao, director of Don Duong District's health center.
Meanwhile, four others, all girls between 11 and 14 years old, were slightly injured, Dao added.
According to initial information, that day Thien found the mine at his grandmother's house and it went off when he was playing with it, injuring him and five others who were nearby.
