Police in the Mekong Delta province of Long An have concluded that the case of a mother and her two sons found dead at home last month was a murder-suicide.
Do Ai Quyen, 30, had been clinically depressed before she killed her children and herself, police said Thursday.
On November 19, Quyen’s mother-in-law Tran Thi Phuong, who lives nearby, came to their house after she did not see Quyen take the children to school.
She found the bodies of Quyen and her two sons, aged 9 and 10.
Her 12-year-old daughter was living with Phuong.
Quyen’s husband, Nguyen Tat Thanh, 31, was working at a shrimp farm nearly a hundred kilometers away in Ben Tre Province.
Police found a death note which they said had been written by Quyen.
Phuong said she had taken Quyen to a local medical practitioner for examination on the previous day, after she showed signs of depression.
