Police in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday arrested a man, who allegedly whipped his daughter’s boyfriend with a belt, causing the latter’s death.
Huynh Minh Tuan, 35, who is being detained at a police station in Hoc Mon District, said he regrets letting his anger over controlled, causing the death of 15-year-old Dinh Thanh Thao, his daughter’s boyfriend.
The 10th grader succumbed to severe brain injuries on Sunday, after a four-day treatment, local doctors said.

Tuan told police that he was too angry after his wife told him that his 13-year-old daughter had gone out with her friend since early morning on Wednesday, and still yet to come home until that afternoon.
When the daughter arrived home later, Tuan used his leather belt, whipping several times at the girl.
Thao, who was escorting the girl home, used his body to cover his girlfriend, trying to stop Tuan’s torture. Tuan continuously whipped his belt on the boy’s head until the boy fell into faint.
Thao’s parents, who were called to the scene, took her son to the hospital, where he passed away four days later.
