Security guards at a train station in Vinh seized a man for dousing the local train station in gasoline and setting it on fire on Monday morning.
Nguyen Ba Hoa, a local xe om (motorbike) driver, allegedly drove his motorbike to the station in Nghe An Province's capitol and walked into the terminal carrying a 20-liter plastic gasoline can.
After emptying the can, he ignited the liquid, sending flames shooting through the building.
Frightened railway employees and passengers fled the scene.
Security guards put out the blaze with fire-extinguishers and a hose.
Hoa, 31, told police that earlier in the same morning, a station's female officer had gave him a "scornful stare" that made him angry. Hoa added that he had not known her before though.
Although the flames were put out quickly, the fire destroyed desks, chairs, an air conditioner and a security camera, worth around VND120 million (some US$5,400).
Ticket sales were disrupted for more than an hour, the station officers said.
Police of the town’s Quan Bau Ward say they are investigating the case.
