The Hanoi police on February 10 arrested a man allegedly on the run in the mountains of Thai Nguyen Province after killing a man to whom he had sold sexual services three weeks earlier.

Ban Phuc Trung, 21, confessed to the police that he had met Mai Xuan Nghi, 41, on January 20 and had had sex in the latter's room in Tam Hiep Commune, Thanh Tri District, An Ninh Thu Do (Capital Security) newspaper reported on February 11.

Following a conflict, Trung stabbed Nghi with a knife he had found near the bed at around 3 a.m. the next day and fled with the victim's silver chain and two cell phones.

He did not provide details about the conflict.

On February 2 Nghi's landlord found his rotting corpse wrapped in a blanket after detecting a foul odor emanating from the room which was locked outside. The dead man had been living there since 2005.

An autopsy revealed two stab wounds, one in the neck and another that had punctured the heart. The police said they found a blood-stained knife at the scene.

Trung said he had sold the stolen things and spent the money.

Three years ago the Thai Nguyen's Phu Luong District local was convicted of fraud in Hai Duong Province near Hanoi.
