Three members of a family, including a pregnant woman, were killed when a truck crashed head-on into their motorbike in the south-central province of Binh Dinh Wednesday.
Nguyen Van Hau, 34, was riding with his wife Bui Thi Thu Thanh, 33, and their daughter Nguyen Thi My Ngan, 4, behind him on National Highway 1A in An Nhon town at around 7:30 a.m. when the accident occurred.
Nguoi Lao Dong (Laborers) newspaper reported that Hau abruptly turned into a gas station when the bike was hit by the truck driven by Nguyen Khanh, 40. Both vehicles had been in the wrong lane, the report said.
All three of the family died on the spot.
Thanh had been eight months pregnant. Doctors from the town Health Center arrived at the scene soon afterwards to try and extract the baby, but it was too late.
Khanh went on his own volition to the town police station to report.
Police are investigating.
