Police in Hanoi have arrested a man on suspicion of threatening a traffic police officer with a gun when his car was stopped last week, VnExpress reported Monday.
Police also confiscated a Mercedes and two pistols together with ten bullets belonging to Nguyen Tien Hung, 53, for the investigation, according to the news website.
The pistols were licensed and used with rubber bullets, it said.
Initial investigations showed that Hung, director of Huong Phong Company, was driving the car with a number plate granted in the northern province of Quang Ninh when he was stopped by traffic police at the intersection of Phan Boi Chau and Hai Ba Trung streets in Hanoi.
Hung stopped the car but then refused to get out, prompting police officers to call for aid from the Department of Road and Railway Traffic Police, including sending a crane truck to remove the car.
Hung then got out of the car, and rushed to point a gun at the head of police officer Nguyen Quang Hung, who was in the truck, VnExpress said.
Nguyen Van Tang, accompanying the director, was also found to have a pistol, according to the news source.
Investigations are ongoing.
