Four men have been arrested in Hanoi for allegedly beating a man to death at the behest of a woman friend whom the victim had tried to hit on.
The four, one of them aged 20 and the others 21, had set upon Duong Van Luyen, 34, on December 12, news website Dan Tri reported.
They had been summoned by Khuat Thi Phuong Thuy, 16, who claimed Luyen had made a pass at her and later assaulted her on the street.
After he first flirted with Thuy and then another young woman traveling with her, and the annoyed girls told him off, Luyen allegedly slapped Thuy and scratched her face.
She called her friend Can Van Tuan, 20, who came with his three friends.
The four began to assault Luyen immediately on arrival when they saw him shouting at Thuy.
Two of them used billiard sticks at a nearby hall until he collapsed on the floor. He died while being taken to a nearby hospital by bystanders.
