A court in Hanoi on Friday sentenced a man to life in prison for attacking a police officer after their motorbikes collided in 2014, causing the latter's death.
According to the indictment, Pham Xuan Truong, 26, in September 2014 rode his motorbike on a Hanoi street. He collided with police officer Vu Truong Son, 56.
The crash reportedly damaged Truong's motorbike and mobile phone. Son left the scene soon after the incident.
Truong then chased after Son demanding an apology. He stopped the policeman and punched him in his face several times.
He also used his helmet to attack Son, until the latter collapsed.
The police officer succumbed to severe injuries on the way to a hospital, authorities said.
