The old Nokia mobile phone found in the gift consignment that supposedly contains an iPhone 5
A post office in central Vietnam has promised to compensate a local man who said an iPhone 5 sent to him was somehow replaced with a used Nokia feature phone and two stones, even though the sender used the post's secure delivery service.
Nguyen Trung Thanh, director of Thanh Hoa Province Post Office, told Thanh Nien Thursday it is still investigating the incident.
According to Le Cong Hung, who lives in Thanh Hoa's Trieu Son District, his nephew Truong Dang Hoa sent the iPhone 5 to him from a post office in Dong Xoai Town, about 100km from Ho Chi Minh City.
The post office’s employees packed and sealed the parcel containing the smartphone and a charger in the present of Hoa.
Two stones are also found in the consignment
Five days later, Hung’s son Le Cong Cuong came to the post office of Trieu Son District’s Tho Cuong Commune to receive the consignment.
But when he opened it, he saw the used Nokia mobile phone and two stones.
The incident took place in the post office, witness by its employees.
Hung then lodged a complaint with the post office.
Thanh Hoa Post Office said the incident was “rare” and asked the Vietnam Post to revise all cargo transport processes to find out how and when the iPhone 5 was switched.
“Whatever happened, we promise to give the customer his iPhone back,” said Thanh.
